Function & Adam X as NYCTA on Slam Radio

New York City stand up!

NYCTA aka New York City Techno Alliance is the coming together of Function and Adam X. The project, forged over the course of the last ten years, pays homage to the early New York electronic sound. Though not overlooked in the history of electronic music when it comes to the early days of electro, hip hop and disco, New York City has been largely overlooked in it’s contributions to the origins of techno and house music in America, while the cities of Detroit & Chicago have always taken most of the credit.”

In this particular outing, on the mighty Slam Radio, the pair shine a light on the period 1989 – 1991. Over 95 minutes, they pace through a near whopping 30 tracks showcasing the development of the often overlooked but highly influential NY sound. This finds playful acid lines running out of club banging house and ravey breaking beats falling into vocal-heavy party jams. Expect artists such as Frankie Bones and Blue Jean and labels like Nu Groove and Strictly Rhythm to name only a few.
