Bambounou Boiler Room

Hav­ing fea­tured on the plat­form at a num­ber of pre­vi­ous events the Parisian DJ extra­or­di­naire is always ready to rise to the occa­sion. This time round Boil­er Room brought him out to one of north­ern Italy’s most cel­e­brat­ed goth­ic palaces, Palaz­zo Re Enzo, for their first time in Bologna. 

From the get-go, Bam­bounou deliv­ers an assault of heavy-hand­ed dark elec­tron­ics ooz­ing in trib­al per­cus­sion, mind­bend­ing mod­u­la­tions and alien motifs. With taste­ful tran­si­tions, he moves through the sounds of break­ing beats, tech­no and IDM. Its a com­pelling bal­ance of freaked out hyp­not­ic melodies and stripped back heav­i­ly bass dri­ven cuts that col­lec­tive­ly give the 90 minute affair a real sense of nar­ra­tive. Expect tracks from the likes of Gun­nar Haslam, Ovan­dra, Har­mo­nious Thelo­nious and much more.
