Wata Igarashi's live ambient experience: Flow at Mutek Japan
Wata Igarashi debuts a new live ambient performance ‘Flow’ at Mutek Japan. Fully making the most of the d&b Soundscape system, ‘Flow’ immerses the audience in sound.
With speakers arranged in a circular formation, the listener experience is akin to sitting at the centre of a sort of synthesizer orchestra. ‘Flow’ builds upon his previous ambient releases WIP01 and WIP02 on his own label ‘WIP’ and the track he contributed to the new ‘Open Space Volume 2’ Compilation on Figure Records.
Igarashi has not forgotten about techno, with his latest WIP06 specially crafted for the floor. His recent podcast for HATE presents him at full power, finding the right blend of energy and psychedelia.
A special live recording of Wata performing live at Nobeyama Radio Observatory in the countryside of Japan was also included in RA’s ‘best mixes of 2021’. Watch the video below.
2022 looks to be a big year for Igarashi. Stay tuned for more releases on his own label WIP, as well as several of his trademark remixes due for release.
