GiGi FM's 'Magnetite' EP

Hot on the heels of her debut album, Kiwi Syn­the­sis Diary 21k and in the same week as her Res­i­dent Advi­sor mix, with bound­less ener­gy GiGi presents her lat­est release — the Mag­netite EP. 

Since her album was self-released, this marks GiGi’s first signed out­put. The rela­tion­ship between her­self and Bam­bounou is based on a com­mon ground: a shared love of polyrhyth­mic ten­den­cies and tran­scen­den­tal techno. 

Among the 4 tracks on this record is ​‘Sen­stro­naut (MYO)’, the first GiGi has made entire­ly using an MYO motion sen­sor. The pro­gres­sive lay­ers were cre­at­ed using arm ges­tures, forg­ing an imme­di­ate con­nec­tion between her dance per­for­mance and music production.

Kine­si­ol­o­gy forms one of the under­ly­ing themes of the EP. By exten­sion, GiGi draws inspi­ra­tion from danc­ing as a respons to the atom­ic vibra­tions of the uni­verse, and con­sid­ers the mate­r­i­al which allows us to sense the kinet­ic force of Earth’s elec­tro­mag­net­ic field, the min­er­al Mag­netite.
