Function relaunches Infrastructure New York
Function relaunches his influential label, Infrastructure New York, with his latest 12″ release, The Green EP.
Marking its 25th anniversary and 27 years of Function releases, the seminal Infrastructure New York is back. An outlet for his new material, you can also expect reissues of out of print classics from Synewave, Sandwell District and Ostgut Ton (and of course, Infrastructure), as well as developing new artists and launching a long awaited Bandcamp page.
The Green EP, is a testament to his masterful production, capturing the same raw power and hypnotic energy of his genre-defying Sandwell District releases Isolation, Anticipation and Variance, updated with a contemporary flair. The EP pays homage to the early days when David arrived in Berlin from the USA, releasing Isolation, finding his flow and becoming a firm fixture of the techno scene after years of being a struggling artist.
Featuring three tracks, The Green EP showcases Function’s versatility and growth as an artist. “Initiation” represents Function’s transcendence, marking a new phase in his career, while “Aeternum (Meridian)” communicates his divine alignment through a broken beat, etheric sound on the B‑side. The EP closes with a live extraction of “Desire and Memory,” a brooding club stormer in contrast to the more experimental leanings of the original version, which appeared on Rrose’s label Eaux.
Function fans can soon immerse themselves in nearly three decades of hypnotic sounds with the label’s new Bandcamp page and webshop. The portal will soon give access to previously out-of-stock releases, reissues, and unrelease Function material, as well as new releases from other talented artists.
The Green EP is set to release 8 May 2023 on Infrastructure New York.
