Wata Igarashi returns to The Bunker New York
The Kioku EP lands in very familiar hands.
Wata Igarashi gears up his third release for the mighty The Bunker New York. “Kioku” follows on from his previous outings on the label in 2018 with the “Question And Answer EP” and in 2016 with “Mood Of The Machines”. In this release, Wata provides five techno-fueled cuts four of which to be pressed on vinyl with the fifth track only available digitally.
“Reflecting on his feelings about these tracks, Igarashi tells us that, “there are many times when you’re listening to powerful music and you are not really able to think but your body still remembers how to move and breathe”. Kioku means “memory” in Japanese and Igarashi goes on to explain that “all the fast and complex melody combinations (of the title track) make me imagine how our memory functions: connecting via synapse and nerves, going all over the place…the music comes from my experience and memory.”
Tracklist:
A1. Body
A2. DNA
B1. Gravity
B2. Kioku
[Digital-only] Kioku (Big Room Ambient Version)
Across the four tracks, Wata puts to great use his many years as a sound designer deploying cinematic ideas and an “expansive quality” throughout the EP. Every track posses its own emotion “that make it easy to imagine how each could fit specific moments across the arc of a party”. Try it out below.
