Resident Advisor's Five Key Performances From Rural 2019

Rur­al Fes­ti­val is one of Japan’s most com­pelling fes­ti­val’s. This year the get-togeth­er was held at ​“the stun­ning Sutakako Camp­ing Ground, a remote, 1300-metre high moun­tain next to a scenic hot spring town.” The line up was a refresh­ing blend of domes­tic tal­ent such as Wata Igarashi and DJ Nobu with a wealth load of inter­na­tion­al artists from around the globe. Fol­low­ing the fes­ti­val, Res­i­dent Advi­sor had their say on the event with anoth­er edi­tion of their Five key per­for­mances series. 

To be found amongst the stand out five are two Octo­pus favourites in Inter­stel­lar Funk and Wata Igarashi. Touch­ing on Inter­stel­lar Funk​’s per­for­mance they high­light­ed it as a ​“cos­mic trip” that ​“set the per­fect start to a bliss­ful Sun­day after­noon.” While talk­ing about Wata Igarashi they said ​“Play­ing at prime time on Sun­day night, straight after Func­tion, he deliv­ered three hours of flaw­less­ly exe­cut­ed tech­no, trip­py, spacey and groovy, with con­sis­tent ener­gy and drive.”
