Function - 'Existenz' Premiere

The first première for Functions forthcoming album drops.

Late summer Function announced his second solo album, Existenz, which will land on Tresor Records this coming December.

The album focuses on themes of religion, sexuality, trauma and healing and is said to be more expansive and celebratory’ than the Berlin-based artist’s usual style of techno.”

Ahead of its release next month Trax Magazine chose to première the second cut on the album Pleasure Discipline’. Tuning in below you will get the sense Function has a lot of emotion to express in this one. Soaring pads orbit the sound of a heart monitor that’s bleeping rhythm gives the impression of feeling alive but only just. Gradually percussive elements build on top of one another while strung out melodies further sell the narrative. Around the midpoint of the track, the heart monitor slows down alongside the tempo giving a tense moment of unclarity before slowly returning to its former state to see you out to the end.
